Agenda

Friday 15th July:      Welcome to the Bowland Challenge

  • 16:00 to 19:00 hrs teams arrive at Guys Farm
    • Report to Bowland Challenge Control on arrival
    • Pitch tent(s).
    • Return to Bowland Challenge, receive map and grid references.
    • Saturday start time randomly selected
  • 20:00 hrs dinner served by Bowland Challenge
  • Teams plan their routes that they will take on the Saturday
  • Copy of route plan returned to Bowland Challenge
  • Team captains to confirm that their teams are fully equipped as per equipment list.
  • Bowland Challenge to be informed of the time (between 11:00 and 14:00hrs) at which your team will be checking in at the lunchtime checkpoint.
  • 24:00 Bar closes.

 

Sunday 16th July

  • 07:00 to 08:00hrs teams depart, at staggered starts, on the Bowland Challenge.
    • Question sheet related to grid references given to teams as they depart on the Bowland Challenge.
  • 10 hours are available for teams to complete the Bowland Challenge
    • A correct answer to each question at a grid reference will earn the team the allocated points for that location.
    • A wrong answer will result in the corresponding points being deducted from a team’s score.
    • Teams may be subject to spot kit-checks at any location to ensure that they are carrying all Team and Individual Equipment as listed.
  • 11:00 to 14:00hrs teams check in at lunchtime checkpoint.
    • Teams may not depart the checkpoint until the nominated time that the teams have informed Bowland Challenge Control.
    • Teams will be penalised for late arrival at the lunchtime checkpoint by 1 point for every minute, or part of minute that the team is late.
  • 12:00 Licensed Bar opens at Bowland Challenge Control.
  • Teams return to Guys Farm campsite and report to Bowland Challenge Control
    • Teams will be penalised for late arrival at Bowland Challenge Control by 2 points for every minute, or part of minute that the team is late.
    • Answers to the grid reference questions to be returned to Bowland Challenge Control
  • 19:30 Dinner served by Bowland Challenge
  • Raffle on behalf of Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team.
  • Results announced and prizes presented.
  • 01:00 Bar Closes.

  • Evening meal provided by Bowland Challenge (individual dietary restrictions considered)
    • Cost covered by your entry fee
  • Tea/ Coffee available
    • Cost covered by your entry fee
  • Licensed bar available

 

Saturday morning

  • Bacon butties etc. available for purchase.
  • Tea/ Coffee available

Saturday lunch

  • Teams are to provide their own food & drink for the Bowland Challenge
  • Water/hot drinks will be available at the lunchtime checkpoint
    • Cost covered by your entry fee

Cutlery & Crockery

 

Would all teams please ensure that they bring their own plates, mugs and cutlery. The Bowland Challenge aims to minimise the amount of rubbish generated over the weekend and is trying to avoid a paper plates to landfill scenario.
