Event Rules General
- Each team shall consist of between 2&
6 walkers aged over 18.
- Team members should be familiar with Ordnance
Survey Maps and be able to read and plot 8 figure
grid references.
- Team members should be capable of using a
compass.
- Team members should have a basic knowledge
of first aid and be able to recognise the signs
of both heat exhaustion and hypothermia.
- Teams will be allowed a maximum of 10 hours
on the course.
- Teams must nominate a mid-point arrival time
between 11:00 and 14:00 hrs. with points being
deducted for late arrival.
- Teams arriving at the midpoint early will
not be allowed to depart the midpoint until
their nominated arrival time.
- Teams must submit an outline route plan to
the Challenge Control.
- Team members must follow the Country Code.
Retirement of Team Members
- If any team member is forced to retire, the
team shall ensure that the retiring individuals
report in to Challenge Control as a retirement.
- In the event of a casualty the team should
alert Challenge Control, ensuring that the casualty
is not left unattended.
- In the event of an emergency, contact the
emergency services AND Challenge Control, ensuring
that the casualty is not left unattended.

Penalties
will be awarded on infringement of the following
rules:
- Failing to keep together (more than 100m
between 1st & last team members or loss
of visual contact.)
- Not having the required equipment.
- Breaking the Country Code.
- Failure to display team id tags.
- Excessive noise.
- Dirty campsite.
- Poor Timekeeping.
Teams identified with any of
the following will be disqualified.
- Trespass.
- Interfering with clues.
- Abandoning a team member
- Using a a GPS.
- Crossing areas designated as out of bounds.
Scoring
- Points awarded for each correct clue answer.
(between 2 and 20 points)
- Points deducted for each incorrect clue answer.
- Points deducted for rules infringement.
- Points awarded for each team member completing
the course.
- Points deducted for late arrival at checkpoints.
(1 point per minute late at midpoint and 2 points
deducted per minute late at the finish).
- The team with the most points wins.
In the interest of Health and Safety, dogs are
not allowed on the campsite and smoking is not
permitted.
